The first ever Goodyear Christmas record! The year was 1957. Bing sang this song as part of an album where he told a story of a boy learning about Christmas from three American icons (in place of the original three wise men). It was made available in a number of forms: as part of the original book/record set, as a standard single (on the Decca label), as a single on a children's label, and as a single record with the sponsorship of a number of businesses, including Goodyear, Firestone, and Crowley's milk. The Goodyear and Firestone editions were on a little green bit of plastic, known in the parlance as a 'flexi-disc'. Only played on one side. If you've read 'The Stanley Arnold Story' elsewhere on this site, you'll know this is an outlier of sorts, unrelated to the album series we're all familiar with. But it's a Christmas record, and it's got Goodyear on it, so had to share it here! |
